Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5 this week — stronger on multi-step tasks, better at using tools across a workflow, and at a lower price than its predecessor. That last part matters more than the benchmarks. An insurance tech company called Pace started using it immediately on live business processes: intake, routing, documentation. Not a pilot. Not a proof of concept. Production systems, running on the new model the week it launched.

That's the shift happening right now. AI is moving from "interesting to experiment with" into the part of the business that runs whether you're in the office or not. The question stopped being "can AI do this?" about six months ago. The question now is whether you're using it as five disconnected tabs — or as something that actually talks to the rest of your business.

Connect two tools you're already using.

Most business owners getting value from AI are still using it in isolation. One tool for drafts, one for summaries, one for replies. The jump in value comes when those things talk to each other.

Find the hand-off.

Pick the task you do first on your phone between 5–9am. For most owners it's checking messages, then checking a platform, then writing something in response to both. That gap between "message arrives" and "you respond" is the hand-off. That's where a connected workflow saves you the most time.

Build one loop.

Build a single workflow where a new message in one system triggers a draft response in another. Zapier, Make, or a basic Claude integration can do this in an afternoon. You don't need an engineering team.
